Pause button for the Music Player Daemon server. Put it on your desk to quickly pause the music when a call comes in.
This button is powered by USB-C and contains no battery. It must be plugged into a connected cable (not supplied).
Once connected to your WiFi network and MPD server the button will light whenever the server is playing, even when the server is changed by a different client. As the name says, pressing the button will pause the server if it is playing. If the server is not playing then pressing the button will start it. Amazing!
When first powered, the device will not be able to connect to your WiFi network. The button will start an access point called "MPDPauser". Use your phone or other device to connect to this network. The MPD Pauser is configured with a simple web page.
The button will flash in a slow repeating pattern (two seconds on, two seconds off) to indicate that it is running in this mode.
After entering your credentials and pressing "Submit", the device will no longer start in this mode. If you ever need to update these values, simply hold the button for three seconds while plugging in the device. That is, press and hold the button, plug-in the device, wait three seconds while continuing to press the button. It will flash the same pattern to indicate that the configuration access point is accessible.
There are two potential errors, each of which is indicated with an easy to recognize pattern of fast blinks.
A single fast blink means that the button could not connect to your WiFi network. Your network is down, the credentials were entered incorrectly, or credentials have changed since being programmed.
Two fast blinks mean that the button was able to connect to your WiFi, but could not connect to your MPD server. Your server is down, the address or port was entered incorrectly, or the address or port have changed since being programmed.
In both cases, the solution is the same. Unplug the MPD Pauser, press and hold the button, plug-in the MPD Pauser, and wait at least three seconds before releasing the button. This will start the configuration access point. Follow the steps in Setup to connect with your phone. You will see the current settings and be able to make changes as needed.
